MISSING 104th Air Force Base Unit He was Squadron Commander, P-47 fighter pilot, with Merrill's Marauders, in the China-Burma-India Theatre during WWII. He had been awarded the Legion of Merit, Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Air Medal. He was the son of Louis Ray and Bertha Aurella Timothy of Roosevelt, Utah and Redondo Beach, California. His siblings were Arvel, Kenneth Jay, Dwaine, Cree, Beth and half siblings Louis Franklin, Marcella, Clay, Allen Darwood, LaVee and Alta Bell. He married Elizabeth Maribell Ann "Sue" Sizer, 30 November 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated Branch Agricultural College in 1941, and was attending Rutgers University in New Jersey at the time of the aircraft acident. He was lost in USAF aircraft AT-6D #42-84307 along with Cpl Ralph E Poplett in Long Island Sound, off Matinicock Point, near Glen Cove, New York. BIRTH 21 Jan 1925 Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois, USA DEATH 23 Aug 1947 (aged 22) At Sea BURIAL Body lost at sea WW2 Veteran, Navy, Post WW2, Army Air Corps-Cpl. Poplett was lost in a AT-6D A/C while enroute to Hawaii on 8-23-1947. He has been "Missing" for about 7 months.
